The Monster Under our Beds

We have been reading and writing about monsters for 2 weeks.  Today we put together the books we wrote about the monsters under our beds.  We also designed the cover of our books.

This weeks star: Kennedy

Luke wins!

Lucky Luke won a prize at the Jog-A-Thon assembly.  His name was pulled out of the hat of over 500 students.  Pretty cool!

Working together in math

We made some big number lines with apples.  Then we played a number line relay game.

Alex is the star of the week.

Alex also turned 6 this week.  Happy happy birthday!

I don't know why the picture won't turn.  :(

Family Trees

We spent the month of September talking about families and what makes us special.  To tie it into our apple science, we made family trees.  Finger paint was the tool of choice.  I have to have the kids finger paint a few times each year because my dad told me he did it once.  He says it was the best school day in his life.  Go figure.  So, we will get the chance to do it again this year.  I don't want anyone to have only one awesome day at school. :)

Partners of 10.

Did you know there are 11 partners of 10?  That's right.  Just ask a first grader.  We finished our first unit of math and showed our knowledge by making "10 Partner" charts.  Of course, we had to show our knowledge with messy paint instead of coloring.  So....that is why your kid had yellow and purple paint on their sleeves.

Not another monster! No...it's the Star of the Week--Rica.

Monster Invasion

Our classroom was taken over by monsters.  Luckily they are "Gotcha Monsters" and really well behaved.  We will be doing some fun monster-themed activities this month.
