Our Polar Expedition

When we started our expedition to the North Pole, the Arctic, we learned about the Inuit people.  They live in the Arctic Circle including Alaska.

Our Arctic experience included learning about a lot of Arctic animals.  Before leaving the North Pole, we drew "half" life-size animals.  Well...some of them weren't quite half life-size, but it was still fun.

Did you recognize any of the animals?

Our next stop was Antarctica.  We learned that the only people who live there are scientists.  There are 17 types of penguins, but only 4 types live in the South Pole:  Gentoo, Adele, Chinstrap, and Emporer.  Did you know that penguins and polar bears will never meet in the wild.  Penguins only live south of the equator and polar bears only live in the north.

We ended our expedition with a Polar Party.  We played games and had a great time.

A look at December

Another day of scientific inquiry.  How many cubes can your boat hold before it sinks?
